Wehrpass Hass

Wehrpass for August Hass, born 31 January 1938, Dotzheim.

The Wehrpass was started 12 April 1939, when Hass volunteered for military service.  The cover is stamped in red ink, Heer, for Army.  Interesting that it was done upside down.  He did demolitions and installations in civilian.  He was married.

He completed elementary school.

He volunteered for military service, and was classified Ersatz Reserve I, 12 April 1939.

He completed the short, basic training with 5 (E) 2 Company Infantry Regiment 80, from 15 May 10 24 May 1939.

He served with 5 (E) 2 Company Infantry Regiment 80, 15 May to 10 July 1939.  From 28 August to 8 October 1939, he served with 5 Company Infantry Regiment 80.

He trained on light machine gun 34 and carbine 98.

He was killed in the West, 9 October 1939, while serving with 5 Company Infantry Regiment 80.

Registered letter to his widow, dated 13 July 1940, returning the Wehrpass of her husband, Schuetzen August Hass.

Personal ID card for August Hass, dated 1924, Wiesbaden.

As you can see, it is worn in half.

Document from 6 May 1938, classifying Hass as Ersatz Reserve II.  Lists his occupation as demolitions.

I am assuming August Hass was possibly killed while working in demolitions with Infantry Regiment 80.  During 1939, the Regiment, as a part of the 34 Infantry Division, maintained defensive positions in the Saarfalz region - West Wall defenses.

Wehrpass is mint while the other papers show wear or have folds.

Includes a slip from the German Graves Office that he was buried in Saarlouis Cemetery.

$60.
