WW2 German Infantry Assault Badge in Silver with the document!
The document was awarded to Army Oberleutnant Erhard Greif, 3 Company Feld Ersatz Bataillon 121 (121 Infantry Division). It was awarded 30 May 1944, and signed by the commander of Feld Ers. Batl. 121, (who I think is) Major Henning Eppendorff. Eppendorff was a German Cross in Gold recipient, 2 October 1943.
The cocument has tiny nips to several edge spots. It has been folded, looks to have been in a frame. The back has old tape in places.
Oberleutnant Greif is listed in the German Graves Office as having been killed 20 February 1945, Kurland. The 121 I.D. operated in the northern sector of the East Front from June 1941 to October 1944, at which time they were engaged in the Kurland Pocket.
As you can see, the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver is is hollow back. It is not maker marked. The reverse has a thin round pin and catch. There is a little bit of the nice silver finish remaining on the left edge and bottom.
Awesome set to a combatant officer!
